Youth work

Voluntary youth work

Friends Southern Summer Events runs two events each year, Junior Gathering for 11 to 14 year olds and Senior Conference for 15 to 18 year olds. Since 2022, I have been involved with FSSE as a volunteer at Junior Gathering. In 2023 and 2025, I served as the Designated Safeguarding Lead at the event.

I served as a Trustee of FSSE from November 2021 to November 2023, which included taking the lead on a full review of their safeguarding policy. I also volunteered as their Publicity Coordinator from November 2021 to November 2024.

Paid youth work

From May 2021 to March 2025 I worked as the Children and Young People’s (CYP) Worker at Friends House Local Quaker Meeting, in Euston, London. I worked with children of all ages, from 0 to 18 years old.

This involved planning an engaging, fun, and educational session on a Quaker theme to deliver every Sunday; liaising with parents, promoting the CYP Meeting to encourage new families; volunteer coordination; and ensuring best practice in safeguarding and data protection.

Each Sunday, I was supported by one of the volunteers from the team and my work was overseen by the CYP Committee.

Throughout this time, I also carried out paid work on commission for London Quakers at their all-age events. This also involved planning and running sessions on Quaker themes, showcasing exemplary safeguarding practices, and handling sign-ups for the events. For an idea of how these events took shape, please see this epistle that I co-wrote following an event we ran on the theme of Community.

Freelance work

Though I have left my job at the Local Meeting, I am still available to be commissioned for paid youth work in and around London.

I am available for day youth events, childcare at conferences and events, education/lessons for Quaker, other Christian, and/or interfaith groups, and more!

I usually charge any reasonable expenses for travel and any necessary materials, and £20/hour for my time (for both planning and facilitating an event).

Please get in touch via the contact form to discuss this further with me.
